How to travel to the United States 

  

 ESTA travel authorization 

In case you are a citizen of the following countriesand want to travel to the United States for up to 90 days, you can apply for ESTA travel authorization.

The ESTA travel authorization, also known as the "Electronic System for Travel Authorization," is a special permission issued by the Department of Homeland Security. It can be requested and obtained by citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to be authorized to travel to the United States for tourism, business, transit, or layover purposes without the need for a nonimmigrant visa.

Noninmigrant VISA

In the case that you are not a citizen of Visa Waiver Program countries and/or your trip lasts longer than 90 days, you can apply for a nonimmigrant visa based on the characteristics and purpose of your trip.

  • Business travel: B1 visa.

Features: The B1 visa allows you to travel to the U.S. for business purposes, broadly understood as attending meetings, seminars and conferences in science, education or professional fields, consultations and contract negotiations.

Validity: The visa is valid for up to 10 years, with a maximum stay of  6 months per trip.

  • Travel for tourism or to undergo medical treatment: B2 visa

Features: The B2 visa is for those who wish to travel for tourist purposes, (including visiting family and friends) or who need to enter the States to undergo medical treatment, but do not fall under the ESTA requirements.

Validity: The visa is valid for up to 10 years, with a maximum stay of 6 months per trip.

  • Transit only : C1 visa.

Features: Transit only means that the traveler is only passing through the United States as part of his or her journey to another country and has no intention of abusing the transit system to remain in the United States for an extended period or for purposes other than mere transit.

Validity: The visa is valid for 29 days from the time you enter the U.S.

  • Academic studies: visa F

Features: The F-1 (Academic Student) visa allows you to enter the United States as a full-time student at any accredited academic institution or in a language training program , which culminates in a degree, diploma or certificate.

Validity: The visa is valid for the duration of your course of study, allowing 60 additional days of stay in the United States from the date of completion of your studies. With an F visa you will be allowed to enter the U.S. a maximum of 30 days prior to the start date of the study program.

  • Professional studies: M visa

Features : The M-1 (Professional Student) visa category is dedicated to students who wish to enrol in professional or other non-academic programs other than language training.

Validity : The visa is valid for the duration of the course of study, allowing 30 additional days of stay in the United States from the date of completion of studies. With an M visa you will be allowed to enter the U.S. a maximum of 30 days prior to the start date of the study program.

  •  Investment in the US: E1/E2 visas

Features: the E1 visa is intended for individuals who have substantial and continuous international trade operations (in this case, with the United States) of significant value. The E2 visa is intended for entrepreneurs who wish to establish or manage a U.S. company in which they have made a substantial investment.

Validity: E1/E2 visas are valid for 5 years from when they are issued, and the maximum length of stay coincides with the entire timeline of the activity.

Type O visas are divided into:

- O-1A: individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, education, business, or athletics (not including the arts, film, or television )

- O-1B: individuals with extraordinary ability in the arts or extraordinary ability` in film, television, or movies.

- O-2: individuals who will accompany an O-1, the performer or athlete, to attend a specific event or performance . To obtain an O-2 the applicant must be "essential," for the completion of the O-1's work and possess. specialized skills that are not readily available in a general worker.

- O-3: issued for the spouse or children of O-1 O-2.

  • EB 1-2-3-4-5 Visas.

Visas belonging to the EB 1-2-3-4-5 category are intended for those seeking to immigrate based on special skills. If the applicant has the right combination of skills, education and/or work experience and is eligible they will be able to live permanently in the United States.

Visas in this category are divided according to the applicant's special skills:

- EB1: professors, researchers, managers or executives of multinational corporations may fall into this category.

- EB2: you may fall into this category if you have certain qualifications such as: possession of a bachelor's degree or its equivalent and demonstration of exceptional abilities.

- EB3: you may fall into this category if you are part of skilled, professional or general worker groups. "Skilled workers" are individuals whose work requires a minimum of 2 years of training or experience. "Professional" are individuals whose work requires at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent earned in the United States or foreign country.

- EB4: You may be in the fourth preference category if you belong to the following categories: Workers in the religious field; Journalists; Iraq/Afghanistan translators; Iraqis who have served the United States; Workers in international organizations; Physicians; Members of the armed forces; Panama Canal workers; Nato-6 retirees; Spouses and children of Nato-deceased employees.

- EB5: This category includes entrepreneurs (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) who make a substantial investment in a U.S. business enterprise, securing employment for at least 10 full-time U.S. workers.

Validity: the visa has permanent validity, giving the ability to stay permanently in the United States.
